All of our bicycle officers are certified as Police CyclistsTM by the International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA).
Certification consists of a 40-hour course which includes both classroom and on-bike lessons. Among these blocks of instruction, officers are taught the concepts of vehicular cycling, group riding, youth bicycle education, bike maintenance, slow speed skills, obstacle clearing and many others. The course is both physically and mentally demanding and requires that officers commit themselves to the demands of police cycling. Officers are taught the concepts of vehicular cycling as taught by the League of American Bicyclists.
More information about police cycling is available at www.ipmba.org.

- All members of each platoon are responsible for all events in their respective precincts, including all requests for service, tours of police headquarters, and speaking engagements; under the direction of the Precinct Sergeant.
